Birds are my favorite subjects to photograph. It is probably the millennial in me but the feeling you get when you capture them staring into the lens is unmatched. Take a look at some of those moments from Kabini National Forest in Karnataka, India.

A tall white egret standing on a dead tree stump in a lake and staring straight into the lens, with a dark cormorant beside it and hazy hills behind.A small white egret standing upright on a grassy bank above the water, just behind a large rock.A pale grey and white tern with a black cap and yellow bill, perched on top of a weathered wooden post against a soft blue sky.An osprey perched on a bare dead branch with a scrap of red prey in its talons, staring straight at the camera against a pale sky.Two ducks resting side by side on a grassy bank at the water’s edge, both looking toward the camera.A painted stork standing in shallow water, seen from behind with its head turned to the side, showing its long orange bill and pink-tinged black-and-white feathers.
