Battery Spencer

Issue #186 / Ed. 46

One bridge, multiple angles, always beautiful. One of my first experiences viewing it was from Battery Spencer. The high vantage point, the breathtaking views of the Pacific, and the San Francisco skyline in the background are all things far better experienced than described.

  • A winding dirt road curving through steep, shadowed hillsides covered in low scrub, seen from above in soft late light.
  • A small motorboat leaving a long white wake across a wide stretch of calm blue water, with a hazy city and coastline on the far shore.
  • One tower of the Golden Gate Bridge with its cables fanning out on both sides, in soft haze, with the San Francisco skyline faint behind it.
  • The Golden Gate Bridge stretching across the bay in hazy sunlight, with a large container ship passing beneath it and a dark hillside in the foreground.
  • A high view over the end of the bridge, a road and a small marina beside the water, with hills, an island in the distance and a deep blue sky.
  • The bridge tower and cables rising above a hilltop against a clear blue sky, with a few tiny figures on the ridge below.
  • Two pink padlocks clipped to a black cable, sharp against a warm, blurred background.
